Back 2 School and a prize....

Well the holidays ended a lot faster than I thought they would and my boys have both gone back to school this week.
Christian started year 7 and says it's a lot better than he expected

Cameron started year 2 and is missing not having his big brother at school with him

In other news I won a fantastic Bella prize pack thanks to Scrapbook Creations Magazine - WooHoo!!!! The box was not much bigger than the regular pizza boxes so I was really surprised to find so much cool stuff inside :)

I even have some layouts to share

This one using loads of sequins and beads - all stitched by hand lol

And here I have used lots of butterfly rub-ons to make - well a bigger butterfly :)

Have a great weekend

I know it's not like me to put up 2 posts in one day ;) but couldn't resist sharing that I have work published in 3 scrapping magazines this month!!!
Scrapbooking Memories
For Keeps
Scrapbook Creations

and if you include my cards from my previous post that actually makes it 4 mags in one month :)
PS. sorry for the crappy photography but it's dark already!

Mixed media...

For some reason layouts just aren't happening for me at the moment... must be the weather ;) so instead I have focused on some mixed media.

Firstly for this month's challenge at Aussie Dares, where he theme is 'wet' and once again the team have come up with so many wonderful ideas and are really worth checking out!!
I began by applying layers of tissue paper onto a canvas panel which I soaked with a mixture of pva glue and water, then sandwiched in some chipboard clouds between several more layers. I used a paint brush to push the wet paper against the chipboard to get a more defined shape and while everything was still wet I applied watercolour paints which bled into each other creating a great effect - then used Twinkling H2O's to intensify the colour and add some shimmer. Once it had dried I added inks, rub-ons and crystals to embellish with.

and next up I had a great time creating my very piece for Blue Bazaar's Art Journal challenge.
I was going in a whole different direction with this at first but was listening to a Prince song and decided to change track... the lyrics that inspired me were "when 2 r in love falling leaves will appear to them like slow motion rain" which I've added to the page, and because it's Prince I had to have some purple LOL so I painted over the blue background I had started with and once dry I put the paper over a cuttlebug folder and sanded away some of the purple paint to reveal the original blues. I drew the branches on with a permanent marker and stuck on leaves cut from shinny silver paper that I added a few drops of LuminArte paint to.
So if you've ever wanted to try mixed media or art journals head on over and sign up now :)

A day to celebrate...

Our eldest son Christian celebrated his birthday yesterday - and it was on this day 12 years ago that I was given the gift of becoming a mother for the first time and truly understanding what it meant to love unconditionally when my beautiful boy was born. xx

it was also yesterday that I was awarded with this wonderful blog award from the always inspiring and tremendously talented Hetty - thank you my friend :)
This is called The Proximity Award.
"These blogs believe and invest in PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers, who must choose eight more and include this cleverly written text into the body of their awards".

And in celebration of the continuing friendship and support that I have been fortunate to come across I am passing the award on to these beautiful and inspiring women

Hope you've all had a great Christmas and are ready for a brand new year! My plan for 2009 is to try and get more organised so that I can actually create more of the ideas I come up with. I also want to try my hand at a greater variety of projects this year and hope you'll join me in the process.
To start things off I've got a few new layouts to shareOK make that one less to share ;)
I've also had my very first card set published
But had no idea that one of my cards would be featured on the cover of this month's Cardmaking Stamping & Papercraft mag - pretty cool way to start off the new year :)and speaking of magazines, you may remember me mentioning that I was asked to do a feature for Scrapbooking Memories mag and recently came across this in a write up for Vol 10 No 11....
'Back by popular demand is the revived old favourite Back to Basics, with Agnus Kasprzak showing us two layouts; one that can be made in no time at all, and one that you can spend a little more time on.' ...... don't you just love the way they make it sound like people actually know who I am LOL ;) The issue is due out mid January so keep an eye out.

And last but certainly not least I finally have the 'fabulous' blog award the super sweet Renee has awarded me with - thanks so much! 1.You have to pass it on to 5 other fabulous blogs2.You have to list 5 of your fabulous addictions.3.On your post of receiving this award, make sure you include the person that gave you the award and link back to their blog.
