project life weeks 11 and 12...

I've been using the gorgeous March Life Pages Kit from Gossamer Blue to document a few more pages from my Project Life album.
what I'm loving most about using these fabulous kits is that they really encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone and try out colour combinations that I might not have normally considered using. I tend to use a lot of bold colours and would have thought that a soft palette like this would be too 'pretty' for my photos since I mainly have pics of my boys to work with...but I am really pleased with how well it all came together and it has turned out to be one of my favourite spreads.

as an extra incentive to use up my kits I'm taking part in the Gossamer Blue Album challenge which requires you to create and upload 4 pages per month to the gallery using any of the kits for the month to receive a free album after the 6th month, and I begin each month by using the products form the kit to alter a 6x4"cards from the Simple Stories Daily Grind collection since this collection was used in the January kit and I've decided to run with it throughout the year.
I have added a few wood veneers and gold die cuts from my stash, and also printed out the exclusive printables and digital elements included with the kit.

I also love that each monthly release including the scrapbook kit and various add-ons all co-ordinates with each other and I find that although I am only subscribed to the life pages kit I often have some of the co-ordinating papers or embellishments in my stash and can use these knowing that they will be a perfect match for my spreads. March featured some of the Teresa Collin's Daily Stories range which I have added throughout the pages.
moving onto the second week...
as much as I love the look of hand written journaling I haven't been able to embrace my own hand writing yet and am still printing up all of my memories onto journal cards - I have been trying to add more little hand written notes and hope to one day be able to hand write a full spread!
I've got a bit of a thing for clouds and have noticed quite a few sky pics popping up in my album this year ;)
I know I've already included heaps of photos in this post, but I couldn't  help myself and took a few more shots of some of my favourite little details :)

Thanks for stopping by xx

playing with D-lish Scraps...

Last week I blogged my first two posts over on the D-lish Scraps blog sharing a couple of projects I created using some of the awesome embellishments from the store.

I started with a layout from one of our recent fishing trips. You can check out my full post here for a complete list of the products I have used.
my page design started with one of the large chevron bags underneath the photo
and from there I added a mix of black and white Journal It's and a few pops of colour using  flair buttons and cabochon hearts and finished it all off with a scatter of gorgeous wood chip hearts

I also created a double spread for my Porject Life album documenting a week from January. You'll find the full post here with a list of all the products I have used.

the Journal It's date and note labels are so perfect for Project Life layouts

and the Journal It's circles are great for adding little bits of journaling or sub titles and I can see that I am going to need another set of the fun Days of the Week Flair Buttons

I used a few strips of washi tape and fun enamel shapes to create a set of custom journal cards
and added some cute wood chips and puffy stickers to dress up a few of the cards

I've been making good progress with Project Life and will be back over the weekend to share another lot of pages, so until then thanks for stopping by xx

blog hopping with kellie stamps...

Hi and welcome to the Kellie Stamps and {scrAp this!} blog hop!!!! I have been a Give a Girl a Blog fan for quite some time and am thrilled to be teaming up with Kellie and her wonderful team and absolutely love the results of combining our products.
Kellie Stamps summer fun & summer mini clear stamp sets, wood veneer flairs
{scrAp this!} geometric heart accents, felt & glitter triangles, polaroid shaker card

I was inspired by Kellie's summer themed stamp sets to create a layout about one of my favourite beaches.
the fuzzy felt and sparkly glitter in my triangle accents helped me choose this soft summery colour combo.
I stamped the title onto the vellum window of the polaroid shaker card - which is filled with tiny pastel stars and love how the stamping resembles the sand in the photo when used with glitter embossing powder.
you don't need a lot of product to create interesting effects if you vary the textures. I combined metallic stitching in my geometric heart, glitter embossed stamping, engraved wood veneer and a tiny bit of fuzzy felt for this easy accent cluster. I love the way the stamped words peek out from inside the triangles.

Because I was still in mood to create, I got out another combination of products to use in my project life album.
Kellie Stamps cozy and monday-friday clear stamp sets, wood veneer flairs, wood mounted stamps
{scrAp this!} gold dipped designs, geometric heart accents, 3x4" cards and 4x6" stitched word borders

I got really behind with project life last year so I decided to revisit my 2013 album and even though it wasn't a particularly eventful week, it feels great to record all of these little moments!
here's a closer look at the left hand side
The stitched word borders are perfect for adding to journal cards and 6x4 photos and the 3x4 vellum backed love cards are a great way to add some interest over your favourite patterns.
I absolutely love Kellie's Monday-Friday stamp set and have used it numerous times throughout my albums and you really can't go wrong with a simple grid base for your stamping.
if you are not confident stamping directly onto your photos, vellum strips are a great alternative!
here's the right hand side...
metallic accents, stamping and stitching are a quick and easy way to dress up project life pockets.
