Hi again :) a new month has begun and you know what the means.... yep, a brand new theme from the Kraft Plus challenge blog!!

This month's challenge is all about friends! 

I decided to go with a layout to celebrate the special bond between my little guy and his furry friend, Patch ❤ They are inseparable and it always warms my heart to see them together.  

I wanted the page to have a happy vibe and found a random mix of bright items from my stash that I contrasted with black to help the colours pop. 

I added a painted background and a fun pom pom frame to highlight the photo.

As always there are loads of awesome ideas from the rest of the team over on the Kraft Plus blog and don't forget to join the Kraft+ Community for more inspiration all month long.

Hi :) A new challenge went live over on the Kraft Plus challenges blog a couple of days ago. The theme is Abba inspired but don't worry if you are not a fan of their music, the challenge graphic has plenty of inspiration. 

I took my inspiration straight from the graphic of the band members and attempted to recreate the same feel with a photo of my boys printed onto a kraft background. 

To get this effect, I searched through my photo gallery until I found some photos of my boys facing in different directions then used a photo editing program to arrange the pics together. I converted the photos to black and white then simply played with the contrast to get the desired effect. I used some of the colours from the graphic, focusing on the orange and yellow tones when adding my layers.

Happy New Year! 2018 is here and what better way to start the year than with a caffeine hit for the coffee inspired challenge over on the Kraft Plus Challenges blog.  

Don't worry if you don't drink coffee, you can still play along by using the inspiration image as your starting point. 

I created a layout based on my morning cuppa (which is actually tea) and was inspired by the challenge image to create some faux coffee stains with watercolour paint. I applied the paint onto the rim of a bowl and mug then stamped them onto my background adding a few paint drips around both circles. 

I took a selfie with my morning cuppa and mounted the photo along with a few paper layers onto a chipboard coaster and it was actually this coaster that helped me decide on the direction I wanted to go with this layout. 

 I kept my page pretty neutral with just a few pops of navy, blush and rose gold and printed off some digital stamps from Kellie Stamps that helped to tell my story.

Hello again :) with the weather finally warming up there is definitely a feeling of Spring in the air and with that comes a brand new challenge over on the Kraft+ Challenges blog with a fun Spring theme.

Criteria : Kraft + Be inspired by Bees and/or Challenge Graphic

I used the black and yellow colour colour scheme from the challenge image as my starting point and really love the way these colours work against the kraft background. 

I started with the black and white striped base and paired it with some yellow hexagon patterned paper from my stash. 

I cut out some hexagon shapes to use with my embellishment clusters and removed the centers from a few of of them for a bit of variety, then used a mix of black, yellow and kraft coloured embellies to help reinforce the theme.

Hi again :) it's the start of a new month and that means another it's time for another new challenge from the Kraft Plus challenges blog! This month's theme is all about leaves and branches and being inspired by trees.  

Here's what I created, inspired by my little guy's love of climbing trees.

This layout was a little different for me in that there is no patterned paper and instead I created a painted background with a diy branch cut from an old box and lots of multi coloured watercolour leaves. 

I used my lovely new Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers to add colour to some die cut leaves and used these to frame the photo of Cayden chilling in the tree.

Hello April, and hello to a new fun new challenge from Kraft Plus Challenges! 

This month's theme is 'Swatch It Up' and the criteria is Kraft + Paint Swatches.

 I had a totally different idea in mind when I started this challenge, but after picking up some paint swatches from my local Bunnings store I realised that the colours I picked were all too bright for my original paper selection whihc forced me to start over - but in the end I am happy I did because I really love how these bright colours pop against the Kraft background. 

I used a large yellow paint swatch with my layers, and die cut several heart shapes to use as embellishments across the page. 

To keep the paint theme going I gave my background a layer of gesso, and used a bright paint stroke acetate from Illustrated Faith backed with simple white cardstock which I splattered black paint onto.

Jot moodboard...

One of the things on my to-do list this month was to play along with the gorgeous mood board from Jot Magazine, and even though I almost ran out of time I'm happy that I got the chance to play along.

I loved the beautiful berry tones in this mood board but struggled to find papers in my stash to suit that colour range, so I decided to create a few of my own painted cards. 

I don't usually do many girly pages, but I just loved the way the pretty pinks worked with the little pop of teal and yellow.

The vintage fabric from the board inspired me to add a mix of floral patterns to my layers, and I love the way the painted elements help to tie everything together.

Hi again :) although I usually pick my kits from the Sassy store with the intention of creating pocket pages, there are some collections that just call for a layout too and this was one of them.

I have combined items from the Simple Stories Faith  and Simple Stories Domestic Bliss collections to create my layout and love how well both of these ranges work together. 

I love the detail hand stitching adds to my projects, and have shared several tips to ensure you get good results with stitching on your projects over on the Sassy Scrapper's blog.

A new month and a brand new challenge from Kraft+ Challenges.

Criteria: Kraft + Sketch + Colour. 

We have a great sketch with a 'coastal chic' theme this month and even though your project doesn't necessarily need to have a beach theme, I decided to go with some photos of my boys from a recent fishing trip.

I kept things simple with a subtle coastal colour palette, and used the sketch as a guide for my page design. 

I dry brushed some white acrylic paint onto the kraft background to help it to blend in with my paper layers and used some white netting to give my page some added depth and texture.

Happy New Year! What better way to start things off than with a brand new Kraft+ Challenge!

This month's theme is 'get on your bike' which can be taken any way you like, as long as it features a bike and a kraft background. 

I took the theme quite literally with bike paper, a bike pic and a bike embellishment. 

I was also inspired by the soft colours from the inspiration pic although I did add a pop of red to match my little guy's bike ;)
